Kaziranga National Park harbors about three quarters of the world's remaining Indian one-horned rhinos-1900 of them, 11 per square mile (2.5 square kilometers.) They are normally solitary animals, rarely seen together except a mother and calf-or during mating season. The crowding has led to more battles and more wounds, which are a frequent sight.
