Each morning during the dry season when Kaziranga is open for tourism, hoards of tourists flock to the park to view wildlife from small open jeeps - or elephant back. Those species range from pythons, cobras, monitor lizards, otters, macaques, and langurs - to at least 40 mammal species and untold bird life: Birdlife International has designated the area an Important Bird Area. But most come to see the rhinos, elephants and tigers.
