Pictures of the Year International and the University of Missouri School of Journalism encourages your gifts to the POYi Endowment. This Endowment is critical to the financial well-being of POYi. Since its beginning as the "First Annual Fifty Print Exhibition of Spot News and Feature Pictures" in 1944, POYi has relied on the generosity of various sponsors to help fund the contest and our educational mission.

This approach worked relatively well for many years, but as POYi has grown and the needs of corporate partners have changed, the one- and two-year commitments from those partners have become increasingly challenging. This prompted the search for a permanent solution. In response, POYi and the University created the endowment. Now the challenge is to fully fund the Endowment to make POYi financially sound not only for next year but in perpetuity.

Pictures of the Year International has inspired and educated photographers across the globe for close to seven decades. The annual competition has recognized excellence in photojournalism by honoring the photographers, editors, and their organizations, and it has preserved a visual archive of our shared history. POYi now asks its friends to provide the essential financial support to continue its mission.
