This rhino had been orphaned, its mother killed by a poachers bullet, and had been successfully reared in the Kaziranga Center for Wildlife Rehabilitation and Conservation. It was tranquilized to be transported to Manaus National Park, where they are trying to bring back a herd of Indian one-horned rhinos. At present, there are only a few rhinos there - and higher poaching success than in Kaziranga because of a smaller guard force.
