"Keep the Culture Alive"
Domingo Berlanga, 74, is fighting to keep his Mexican
culture alive. 'We're losing a lot of young people. They are too
Americanized. They forget about their culture. Maybe we can get the culture
back together- the way we dress, celebrating Cinco de Mayo, the dances.' he
said.'My dream is to have a park, something where we can get together on a
Sunday and hear Mexican music and have picnics. I work to keep the culture
alive.' Berlanga has bought 13 lots and properties adjacent to the Hispanic
Technology Center in Flint attempting to jump start his dream to make it come
true. A veteran of the Korean conflict, he was featured in a mural on the
side of it that depicted Mexican culture.
