"Turning the Corner"
'I think Flint is turning the corner,' said Police
officer Brian Willingham. 'We've been through some negative stuff. The more
I'm involved in various parts of the community, I see that there are good
people trying to make a difference against tremendous odds.' His special
focus has been the kids and he volunteers on his time to reach them. 'At
heart the kids are good. You see how they live and you wonder what to do. The
baggage they bring to school- the domestic violence, instability, sexual
abuse and violence. We need to reach them early. This is my way. If I
wouldn't have this I probably wouldn't make it. I probably wouldn't survive
it. My promotion is right here. The power is in the community.'
