On a mission to secure Qurghan Tepa hill, two men stepped on mines and had to be evacuated by medical helicopters while taking fire from enemy forces. EOD technician Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Lance Banuk comforts his partner Petty Officer 1st Class John Kremer after he stepped on the first mine. Third platoon quickly realized that they were in the middle of a minefield littered with Iranian plastic anti-personnel mines that could not be detected with the equipment they had on hand.
