"Rachael's Pills"
Rachael says that she takes pills so
that she won't 'flip out', a phrase that seems to cover everything from
getting in trouble at school to her mother calling her social worker on her.
Rachael's two brothers take medication also. The pills were 'strongly '
recommended by a school social worker who thought they were disruptive in
class. Rachael's mother said they really didn't have much of a choice, and if
she wanted to keep her kids in school she had to comply with the
recommendation. Now she is not sure if the drugs are the cause or the cure
for her childrens' occasional outbursts of temper.
