Jordy, 14, says he joined the "Seleka" rebels after they ransacked his father's kiosk and killed two relatives. “It was a way to protect myself,” he explains. "And it was a way to survive." While violence still raged in other parts of the country, former child soldiers are set to begin a program sponsored by UNICEF to reintegrate them into society. It has been common practice on both sides to recruit children and turn them into soldiers or sex slaves.
