Scientists return to the ship after retrieving a "crittercam" device that had been attached to the back of a humpback whale. The crittercam released from the whale at 4 a.m., and was tracked to its position in sea ice in the mouth of Wilhelmina Bay. The Nathaniel B. Palmer's lights make a stroboscopic effect on snow as it falls.
