"Destination Unknown"

In an effort to escape war, violence, and poverty in their home countries in southern and western Africa, a number of women end up in the clutches of human traffickers. In reality they become slaves to be sold on as sex workers in Europe. On the journey through Africa, and in camps before they reach Europe — if they ever make it that far — thousands of women and children are subjected to suppression, rape, abuse and death on a daily basis. Because of increased patrols along European borders, a large number of the women find themselves in a kind of no-man's-land, caught in northern or western-African countries without the possibility of getting into Europe or going back home.

An enclosure in Morocco is surrounded by a wall made of clay, where about 30 women and children live. Several of the girls are from Nigeria, where organized rings of human traffickers collect them with the aim of selling them as sex workers in Europe. Most of the girls pay their debts, food, transport, and sometimes even protection with sex.
