Anatoly, left, and Alexander Garriolovna are fed by their mother, Shakhvorostova in Dolon, Kazakhstan on the outskirts of the Nuclear Polygon, the radioactive area where the Soviets test detonated over 500 nuclear weapons during the Cold War. Shakhvorostova was a witness to the first Soviet nuclear test, and as a result of the radiation, gave birth to two autistic children, who she has taken care of all her life.
