New Orleans' Ninth Ward was one of the hardest hit
areas of the city by Hurricane Katrina and then the broken levees. A friend
and neighbor of the group who banded together on Desire Street died only 2
blocks away just a few days before the group was forced to evacuate. Once
they heard of Lionel's death they started having second thoughts about
remaining, but still they weren't convinced.
