India Franklin sits on the road next to the spot where her cousin, Jamiel "Jas" Shaw II, was gunned down. The slight but speedy running back for Los Angeles High School was recruited by Rutgers and Stanford before he was killed. The 17-year-old was three doors from home when Pedro Espinoza, an 18th Street gang member and illegal immigrant, allegedly shot him to death. "Jas" father, Jamiel Shaw Sr., heard the shots, ran out of the house and found his son lying on the sidewalk, bleeding to death.
