When a rocket attack damaged a university in Diwaniyah, Fisher and his squad provided security for Army explosive experts and their Iraqi counterparts examining the scene. Behind the wheel of a Humvee, Fisher drove the streets of Iraq but never saw combat. He worked to regain the rank he'd lost, adjusted to the drudgery of his missions and, occasionally, felt the anxiety and adrenaline rush that came with sirens signaling a rocket attack.
