Departing the airport with his parents and friends, March 7, 2009, Ian's first words are "It's cold." After the warmth of an Iraq winter, he smiles at being able to see his breath. When Ian flew into Denver for a 15-day leave, he felt like a changed man. Above all, the deployment to Iraq had sobered him. His dad also noticed a new maturity and his buddy, "Buddha", saw a more serious and worldly Ian.
