Surrounded by friends, Marisol
(M) anticipates the outcome of her makeover. In
2003, Marisol's best friend, Mayra Argondo–a invited six girls to participate
as'damas' in her quinceanera (15th birthday party). The traditional Hispanic
custom marks a significant passage for adolescent girls from childhood to womanhood.
On the day of the event, Mayra invited a beautician to her home (pictured) to
help her damas get ready for the big event.
