Anti-balaka groups have recruited and armed children in villages surrounding Bossangoa. They anti balaka are a local defense force who have armed themselves with local home made weapons and hunting rifles to defend their homes. Later in the conflict they actively went out and attacked Muslim civilians and killed thousands.
