The government-run bakeries in the suburbs of Damascus have closed due to war-time fighting but there are about 30 government-run bakeries in Damascus now. They are open 24 hours a day and charge 15 Syrian Pounds for 8 pieces of bread. Normal bakeries charge around 150 Syrian Pounds for 8 pieces of bread.
