"Typhoon Haiyan"

Typhoon Hayian hit the Philippines with winds of more than 315 km/h and was among the strongest ever recorded on earth. The typhoon killed 6,155 people and left four million homeless.

Destroyed. The island of Samar was the first place typhoon Hayian hit. The inhabitants depend on fishing and cultivation of plantations of coconut palms. But the vast majority of both are gone, and the island's palm trees are toppled.
