"Salt Lake Citizens"
A dead sparrow lies in the salt on the shore of Lake Urmia, a salt lake in the province of West Azerbaijan. The lake was once home to birds and water life but as it has shrunk its salinity has increased making it uninhabitable. Studies have revealed that the lake's size has fluctuated over time largely due to the impact of periods of drought and flooding. Currently the lake is rapidly shrinking due to drought but also from the impact of dams built on some of the rivers that feed the lake.
