"THE DISTANCE BETWEEN US"
Nick is meticulous about a great deal of things and absorbs himself in everything he does, because he has all the time in the world. He spreads himself out over the floor of his bedroom and transfers birthdays and anniversaries onto his new Hooter’s Calendar. In the same way, he lays his clothing all over the floor and folds them using a folding board; he counts his change after dumping it all over the floor; and he spreads pictures of himself and hooters waitresses on the floor so he can put them in order and into his photo albums where he will caption them.
