"PARLAY - A PORTRAIT OF MAN AND HORSE"
Dick Taylor trains his three year old trotting filly CC Heartistry alongside fellow trainer Suzie Askren on Saturday March 26, 2011. The training season that begins in the early spring is meant to build a horses speed slowly over the months, hoping to maximize it when race season starts. "If they don't have that competitive gene then it's almost impossible to teach them to be competitive." Along the way injuries have to be avoided and constant attention paid to the health and condition of the horses joints and legs.
