The village of Gabreshevtsi, some 100km southwest from the capital Sofia. Some twenty years ago there where living more than 500 people. Today there is only two children and in total less than 40 people left in the village. At the end of 1990, the Central Statistical Bureau recorded 8,989,172 people in Bulgaria. Today the population of the country decreased to 7,585,131 /2009/ people largely due to emigration. According to the official information at the end of 2009, 5,401 214 people resided in Bulgarian cities and towns (71,4%); 2, 162 496 lived in villages (28,6%). September, 2010.
