"A SLOW DEATH"

A brown pelican struggles to move its wings and body coated in oil from the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Over 7,000 dead animals were collected during one of the worst environmental disasters in American history. Many more died, but were never recovered. Brown pelicans were a threatened species even before the oil spill.
