"THE HUMAN TOLL: MOUNTAINTOP REMOVAL MINING"

Rully Urias says if his ancestors, who are buried in this family cemetery above his home in Island Creek, Kentucky, where many of his family members lived, could see the destruction of the mountains they are surrounded by now, they would be heartbroken. The land Rully and his family live on was settled by his great-great-grandfather in the 1800s and has been in his family ever since. He says that this form of mining is not only destroying the mountains but also his family's way of life and their heritage.
