Robert F. Kennedy Jr. speaks out against mountaintop removal mining during a protest in front of the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection in Charleston, WV. The protest was aimed towards saving Coal River Mountain, a mountain opponents of mountaintop removal have proposed putting a wind farm on for an energy alternative to coal, but Massey Energy had recently begun blasting on the mountain to begin mining. Mr. Kennedy has called mountaintop removal mining a "moral issue," and said at the protest that the coal companies are, "not just destroying the environment. They are forever impoverishing the communities."
