Sector eleven in the prison Centro Preventivo, on the outskirts of Guatemala City, is built for about sixty prisoners. There are now 180 members of the Barrio Dieciocho gang. Around ten guards with automatic guns are posted outside the prison, but they are not able to enter into the prisoners compound. When asked what it is like in there, they shrug and answer:
- There is a lot of marijuana. They smoke all the time.
There is no work of rehabilitation done in the prisons, nor any psychologists.
