Mexican "coyotes" travel along the southern
side of the Mexican border, moving would-be crossers to drop points. In the
most remote places, the border consists of just a few strands of barbed wire,
and Border Patrol agents drive slowly up and down the U.S. side trying to
deter people from crossing. "Sometimes they will honk or flip us
off," one Border Patrol agent says of the "coyotes."Even if I followed the trucks, sometimes they will cross right in front
of us, because they think, it's just one guy, how many of us can he catch?
And anyway, if they're caught, they'll just go back and try again
tomorrow."
