Many businesses along Huron's main commercial corridor, route 269, have folded and been boarded up. Restaurants that used to be open 24 hours to serve the large working population have cut back their hours and laid off employees. Bars, frequently the site of drunken brawls and workers spending their plentiful wages, are shuttered.
