On November 8, 2013, Typhoon Haiyan, the strongest typhoon ever recorded caused catastrophic destruction, around 6,190 people were killed and 11 million people affected with many left homeless.

The Philippines has been host to a number of natural disasters but on November 8, 2013 Typhoon Haiyan hit the islands of Leyte and Samar causing catastrophic destruction. Haiyan ( also known as Yolanda ) was an exceptionally powerful cyclone that is the strongest typhoon ever recorded. Around 6,190 people were killed and as of January, 2014 bodies are still being found. According to the UN officials about 11 million people have been affected, many left homeless.
