Ford cuts a young customer's hair at Buck's Platinum Barber Shop in Gary, Indiana. Buck's provides Gary with a place to meet up with friends, share gossip and keep track of what's happening in the city. The shop, however, was recently closed. The city's population peaked in the early 1960s at roughly 174,000 residents but has fallen to around 80,000 according to the latest U.S. Census in 2010. In addition to the collapsing infrastructure and deteriorating buildings, the number of abandoned houses is sharply increasing as people leave the city.
