"VICTIMS OF OPERATION CAST LEAD"

Faraj Ashur, 21, is seen in Gaza, Palestine in 2012. Farjat was at home on January 4, 2009, at 10:30 a.m., trying to find a car to go to his nephew'€™s house in Zeitoun, which he thought was safer. With his nephew, he went out in the garden when an explosion occurred. Farjat lost both his legs and his nephew lost one too. They stayed for over an hour on the ground when an AP photographer, Saber Nour Adin, put them in his car and took them to the hospital. They thought he was dead as he had open wounds almost everywhere, and had lost his legs. He recovered in Egypt for more than two months, and then returned to pass his school exams. He tried to find sponsorships to go to college, but found none. He said, "€œAfter I finished building my ship, I found the oceans had become dry". According to the Israeli newspaper "Maariv"€, he was also considered to be a member of the Qassam Brigades and implicated in the kidnapping of the Israel soldier Gilad Shalit, an accusation he firmly rejects. Farjat was married in July 2010 -€“ on his birthday -€“ and has two children.
