Egypt's government announced today, the 14th day of protests, a 15 percent salary hike for government employees in an attempt to bolster its base and defuse tensions but the gestures have done little so far to win over the tens of thousands of demonstrators occupying Tahrir Square to end their protest, leaving the two sides in a strained stalemate.
