Vice Principal Sergio Mercado watches the varsity football team play on Friday, November 6, 2009. After being assaulted by a student, Mercado left the school two months later, after five years as vice principal. Although he left the school, Mercado gave his jacket to a graduating senior, Syr'joue Boston-Jackson, who credited Mercado with getting him to graduation over the course of four years.
