"THE HEART OF THE WORLD"
An Arhuaco elder wears the traditional Tutusoma hat as he returns home outside Nabusimake. The Tutusoma hat represents the snowy peeks of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta mountain range, which the Arhuacos consider to be the heart of the world. Arhuaco males wear the Tutusoma when the community spiritual leader or mamo says that they are ready to do so. Once that happens they have to weave it themselves.
