"Light Pollution"

1 of 12

"Light Pollution" For most of human history, the phrase "light pollution" would have made no sense. Now most of humanity lives under intersecting domes of reflected, refracted light. Our world pays a price for this loss of night. Reducing the size and impact of night lighting is relatively easy and inexpensive.

THIS IMAGE: Here we see the time-honored night light -- one fire and countless stars -- illuminating a farmer and his companions near his land in Burkina Faso in West Africa.
