"CAN YOU SEE ME?" The group of amputee war victims from Sierra Leone pass out information at a protest in NYC against Òblood diamondsÓ, though most people walked by quickly avoiding their pleas. Rep. Tony P. Hall joined human-rights activists and victims of Sierra Leone's diamond wars for a protest highlighting the role American consumers are unwittingly playing in funding some African wars. They marched to Cartier Jewelers on 5th Avenue to demonstrate and hand out leaflets aimed at educating consumers about this blood trade. Damba Koroma, 8 years old and Bintu Amara (behind her who lost leg) are victims of rebel atrocities in Sierra Leone.
