"Diver in Fish Farm Pen"
A diver descends through the 80,000 adult Atlantic
Salmon. Due to the high demand by buyers, fish farmers pack the fish in
their pens as tightly as possible. This allows for the transfer of diseases
but primarily it creates the perfect habitat to breed sea lice which have
been shown by scientists to wipe out entire runs of wild fish.
Also, over 500,000 farmed salmon escape every year in Norway alone.
Scientists have shown that these salmon are reproducing in the wild,
ultimately lowering the gene pool of wild salmon.
