"The Spawn"
The life cycle of salmon all comes down to this 5
second moment, when the female releases her eggs into her redd and the large
males simultaneously fertilize her eggs. Clean, healthy rivers are key to
survival of future stocks like these wild 40lb salmon photographed on
Quebec's Gaspe Peninsula.
This was the first time that this has ever been shot in the wild, largely
due to National Geographic's amazing Photo-Engineering department.
