Debutantes reacts while entering their debutante ball on December 10, 2014 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The gala was held in a posh tennis club and organized by the Pacifying Police Unit (UPP) for girls from the Babilonia and Chapeu Mangueira communities, or favelas. Lavish debutante balls are normally held by upper middle class and wealthy Brazilians and are rare for girls from favelas. They mark a girl's 15th birthday and passage from childhood to womanhood.
