"Losing Victoria"

Emily said that for a while she thought that when Victoria passed away, the burdens of caring for such a sick child would be gone and things could, in a way, go back to normal. Shortly before Victoria's death, however, Emily realized how much help the other kids would need and that things weren't going to be easier."Things are going to be harder, way harder. I don't know why that was a revelation to me, but it was," Emily said. "Her passing doesn't solve anything. It puts her in a better place but it leaves a huge, gaping hole."
