"Afghanistan's hunger crisis"
4 year old Noor Ahmad, is held by his mother Qamar Gula, 30, on a plastic mattress (unseen) in an administrative office, due to overcrowding in the Inpatient Therapeutic Feeding Centre (ITFC) wards, as malnourished Afghan children receive medical care at the Bost Hospital, a Medecins Sans Frontiers (MSF) assisted hospital, on September 23, 2013 in Lashkar Gah, in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. Qamar Gula, having lost 3 children previously, from Garamser district, travelled with her son Noor Ahmad, as he was not eating and his stomach was swelling. Qamar Gul waited a month, taking her baby in to local clinics, before being told to take Noor Ahmad to the Bust hospital in Lashkar Gah. Qamar Gula, has already lost 3 sons previously, 2 newborns to hepatitis and the other drowned in their nearby Helmand river.
