People scavenge for goods in a canal filled with garbage, feces and sewage behind homes in the Cite Soleil neighborhood of Port-au-Prince. The country has been unable to stabilize a sixteen month-old epidemic that has killed almost eight thousand people largely because of a lack of sanitation infrastructure and access to clean water.
