Fathi Ja lies under a blanket in his hut in a hidden
temporary village in the Vientiane province of Laos on 28 November 2007.
Fathi Ja's wife and two children were killed two months earlier during a raid
by the Lao People's Army. Thousands of Hmongs who fought or collaborated with
the American CIA until communists took over the country in 1975 remain hidden
in the jungles of Laos and are regular targets of the Lao People's Army
