The largest grouper in the Western Hemisphere, the Goliath is endangered and protected due to excessive commercial and recreational fishing. It has reestablished itself in Southeast Florida and is a major draw for divers and tiny minnows, which surround it for protection against smaller predators like barracuda and snapper.
