Nepalese armed police gets ready to shoot
at protesters during the fifth day of an imposed curfew as opposition
parties reject King Gyanedra's path to democracy in Kathmandu April
24, 2006. Nepal's opposition groups are calling for a restoration
of democracy from King Gyanedra's royalist regime and vow to continue
their protests until he steps down. Violent clashes became a regular
occurance between pro-democracy groups and the government's forces.
King Gyanedra's royalist government ordered a curfew, cutting phone
lines and internet and arresting anti-government activists while a
ban on protests continues angering Human Rights organizations. Nepali
men chant as water cannons are shot at them during a demonstration
protesting the rule of King Gyanedra in Kathmandu January 24, 2006.
