Nepalese pro-democracy protesters chant
anti-government slogans after burning and looting government property
during demonstrations as tens of thousands of Nepalese protesters
march on the streets during the second day of an imposed curfew. Nepal's
opposition groups are calling for a restoration of democracy from
King Gyanedra's royalist regime and vow to continue their protests
until he steps down. Violent clashes became a regular occurance between
pro-democracy groups and the government's forces. King Gyanedra's
royalist government ordered a curfew, cutting phone lines and internet
and arresting anti-government activists while a ban on protests continues
angering Human Rights organizations. Nepali men chant as water cannons
are shot at them during a demonstration protesting the rule of King
Gyanedra in Kathmandu January 24, 2006. |
