Mdme Ngomo in her home with the pot that was given to
her as compensation for the 25 mature palm oil tree that were cut down during
the construction of the pipeline. The trees take on average 7 years to mature
and can earn $50 a year per tree. Other similar levels of compensation range
from a spade, two lamps, a wheel barrow for similar levels of loss. Amnesty
International has accused both governments and the private consortium of
Human Rights Abuses.
