"One Year After the Tsunami Maridiah is Still
Living in a Tent"
When the Tsunami came, Maridiah escaped drowning to
death by climbing on to the boat that came floating by the house where she
were standing in water to her neck on the second floor. When the water came
down the boat settled on top of the house and Maridiah and 53 other survivors
could leave the boat alive. Maridia lost her husband and 3 year old son to
the tsunami. Today she lives in a tent that she shares with 6 other
survivors. Just next to the boat which saved her life. Maridiah believes that
it was the will of God that let her and the others survive.
